I've always said that I lean more towards the cutesy side of Halloween...you won't find anything scary around here. But, I do enjoy small winks of the holiday through colors and such. These Halloween Bookmarks are just that...subtle, but sweet! Since black and orange are the trademark colors of the season, these were a no-brainer in the color scheme department. And how could we have Halloween without pumpkins? There is only one design available today, but I think it's a good one, so I do hope you enjoy it.

Fall Reading List

I am not always consistent with sharing my reading lists with you all, but whenever I have in the past, it's always well-received. As an avid reader, I love seeing what others are reading, as well, to add to my list and broaden my tastes a bit. Below are my latest reads (with small reviews/thoughts), some of which are perfect for the fall season. Would love to hear what you're reading in the comments, as well.

• While I can't give a thorough review (yet), since I'm smack dab in the middle of it, The Paris Apartment by Kelly Bowen (pictured above), is proving to be a real page-turner. I do love World War II historical fiction (especially the stories set in France, Poland, and Italy) and this one does not disappoint. It's a book with two timelines and I love seeing how those come together. This is also a book with a great deal of feminine heroism, which I greatly enjoy.
• I recently finished Surviving Savannah by Patti Callahan. While the story is set in summertime, it's truly a great year-round read that is good at tackling grief, guilt, and great mysteries of the south. It's another historical fiction novel surrounding a steamship that sank off the coast of the Carolinas in the 1800s, but was only recently discovered. The Audible version had really fantastic narrators. 
• The Forest of Vanishing Stars from Kristin Harmel is a completely different take on the typical WWII historical fiction. It's set in the dense forests of eastern Europe...if you're a nature-lover, you'll absolutely be enthralled by it. It's another wonderful story of survival instincts and folks banding together to get through the unimaginable. 
• Switching to the frontier days in Wyoming, One for the Blackbird, One for the Crow by Olivia Hawker really takes you into the heart of what it meant to survive in the earlier days of America. The story is about two neighboring families and their hardships, the unimaginable, the constant feuding, and just plain surviving against odds. I enjoyed this one quite a lot, especially from the viewpoint of someone who loves gardening (it talks a lot about how these folks worked the land and what all went into it).
• I do have to add a classic to the list: The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton (originally published in 1905) pulls back the curtain on high society in the pre-war days. This one really had me rooting for its main character, Lily Bart, and all she goes through as an unmarried socialite just trying to figure out exactly where she fits in.

Printing and Using Your Halloween Bookmarks:

• Be sure to print your bookmarks onto white, letter-sized cardstock (regular paper is too thin). You can purchase white, letter-sized cardstock here on Amazon. 
• There are two print options available: 
• a letter-sized page with four bookmarks (recommended for less paper waste) 
• a letter-sized page with one bookmark
• I provided a thin orange outline around each bookmark to make cutting easier. I like to use my Fiskars Paper Cutter to make quick and tidy work of cutting. You can purchase this same paper cutter here on Amazon.
• While these bookmarks are wonderful simply printed and cut, I also love to dress them up a bit, as well, using these plastic bookmark sleeves I purchased here on Amazon. 
• You can also grab the coordinating tassels here on Amazon. I used the green tassels to coordinate with the pumpkin stem. 
• Instead of buying tassels, see my video below on How to Make Yarn Tassels (they can easily be attached to your bookmark through a hole punch or also using the plastic bookmark sleeves).
