Today's Bumble Bee Printable has been in my head for a while. I've always wanted to create a design that included the iconic hexagon cells that bees use to create their honeycombs. And the background option of this bumble bee printable contains just that. Along with some chamomile flowers and a large bumble bee front and center, this design just makes me happy. Hope it makes you smile, too.
Bees have always been fascinating to me, now more than ever (see the below photo). They're truly amazing creatures. And honestly, I find them really beautiful, too. Maybe it's the graphic designer in me, but their sharp-contrasting colors, as well as their ability to create perfectly symmetrical hexagon honeycombs, bees are definitely awesome in the graphics department. Be sure to check out both versions of this bumble bee printable below.
Pictured below is a tree that is right outside our bedroom window. When we moved into our home four years ago, we discovered that this tree had a *large amount* of bees in it.
If you look closely, you can see just a few of our 80,000 honey bees that lived in the tree. While we thought this was super interesting, it did pose a bit of a danger to neighbors and pets (actually, our dog got stung on the lip and her face was so swollen we had to rush her to the vet. She's fine now, but yes, the bees were a bit of an issue for her). So, we safely had our bee population removed and relocated. And then this spring, four years after the bees left, they came back. Well, at least some of their ancestors did. Once again, our tree was all abuzz (pun intended). And once again, we had a beekeeper come out and take our bee friends away to a safer place in the country. They sure seem to like our tree, huh? But, this little back and forth life with bees was kind of a fascinating one. They were actually quite interesting to watch from my bedroom window. But, for the safety of our neighborhood (and our Dachshund), we bid them adieu once again. Today's little bumble bee printable is in honor of my 80,000 little friends. Here's hoping they don't return in four years.
Free Bumble Bee Printable
I recently shared a subscriber-exclusive printable that read "Bee Sweet" combined with a hand-drawn vintage bee. Readers really enjoyed it, but shortly after that, I had many requests for a word-free bee printable. This worked out perfectly for me...I love any kind of bee design and it was so much fun to include the honeycomb-inspired background. Plus, it was perfect for my summer series. With our little tree situation, I can tell you that it is definitely bee season.

Using Your Bumble Bee Printable
- This bumble bee design is for personal use. However, if you have a small business and would like to use the physical product for your business, you can purchase a commercial license here.
- The PDF versions of these prints are designed for easy, at-home printing. All of the PDFs are designed to be printed onto letter-sized white cardstock for the best results. This is part of the reason the 4x6" and 5x7" PDF versions come with two-designs-per-page: they reduce paper waste.
- You can purchase a ream of white cardstock here on Amazon (they really do have the best price I can find!).
- After printing onto cardstock simply trim to frame. On the PDF versions of this design without the background design, I included small yellow hairline borders on the 4x6" and 5x7" designs to make them easier to cut out. Simply trim right along or just inside those borders.
- The JPEG images are designed to be printed like a photo or image. You can even upload to your favorite photo-printing place for professional results. If you run into any copyright issues having your prints printed, simply show the shop this post. You have my complete permission to print your bumble bee printable.
NEW! Bumble Bee Cards
I have had several requests to make the Bumble Bee Printable into a greeting card version. Above, I have done just that over on my other blog, Print Pretty Cards. Be sure to check out these Free Printable Bee Cards (also with or without the background option).
