Several of you asked for dual-versions of patriotic printables for the summer prints. Today, I'm excited to be sharing these free Patriotic Flag Banner Printables for both Canada and the USA. They're easy-to-use designs that would work for a variety of situations...but most of all to just add a little patriotic decor here and there. Download your favorite flag banner below.
Whether you're celebrating Canada Day or US Independence Day, I've got you covered in the patriotic flag banner department. These two banners are perfect for all of your festivities, as well as seasonal decor. And if you have a divided household, why not combine your banner pennants into one banner representing everyone? Hope you enjoy these two flag banner prints.
Patriotic Flag Banner Printables
Our recent reader survey was so helpful in preparing for this month of free summer printables. A request that popped up over and over was to extend the patriotic prints into Canadian versions, as well. My apologies for not having done this before...but, I'm totally on board now. Although these flag banners are simple, in nature, they can really pack a festive design punch in your home or office space. And I've got some simple embellishment ideas for you, too.
So, I learned a bit through the creation process of this post. Canada Day is celebrated on July 1st, and if I'm reading correctly, it's super similar to the USA's Fourth of July celebrations. Since this was my first creation for my Canadian friends, I stayed in a pretty safe design territory...I didn't want to make a faux pas and create something that wasn't in keeping with the spirit of the holiday. I'm hoping all of my Canadian readers enjoy this one. I really appreciate the feedback.
I wanted the flag banner for the USA to be within the same style as the Canadian version, so, again, keeping things super simple. If you'll notice in the above image, I do have the flag displayed the appropriate way for a vertical display (once an Army brat, always an Army brat, y'all). That actually looks backwards when printed out. But, I created a "forward" one, as well, in case you want to glue any of these to sticks to create small flags or decor items. So, there are actually two files for the USA flag banner...just be sure to print the reversed flags file if you do intend to display it in this manner to keep with proper flag etiquette.
Printing and Embellishing Your Flag Banner
While these banners can certainly work well on their own, it's fun to add a few small touches to take them up a creative notch.Supplies:
- Flag Printouts (download links are available further below)
- Letter-Sized White Cardstock for Printing (regular paper is too thin for banners)
- Baker's Twine (for stringing)
- I bought the red, white, and blue twine here on Amazon.
- And you can find a red and white version here on Amazon.
- Small Red and White Gingham Ribbon
- Smaller 1/8" Hole Punch (this doesn't interfere with the banner design as much as a standard hole punch tends to)
- If you prefer to go hole-punch-free, you can try miniature clothespins to hang your flags, instead.
Directions:
- Print your flags out onto the white cardstock.
- Cut out each flag around its perimeter. Scissors work great, but I love my Fiskars Paper Cutter (pictured above). It's great when making longer banners and makes quick work of cuts.
- Punch holes in the tops of your flags and string with the twine. Or, skip the holes and use the mini clothespins to attach your flags to the twine, instead.
- Tie gingham ribbons using slip knots in between the flags for some extra fun (as pictured below). I like my ribbon's tails to be the same lengths as all of the flags. But, it's fun to play around and see what you like best.
You can make your flag banner as long as you like...just print multiple copies of your flags.

DeleteThank you for letting people know that the American flag is always displayed with the field of blue in the upper left had corner. My husband served 34 years in the military, and I was surprised to find out that so many people didn't know how to display the flag properly.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that you like it!
