I've been wanting to create a fun little You are My Sunshine SVG to go on a pillow for a friend's little girl's bedroom. I just wanted to make sure that it had an actual sunshine in the design (and it does!). Since I know not everyone uses SVG files, I created a colorful version of the design in a printable, too. You can download both the You are My Sunshine SVG and its coordinating printables bwlow. They're all free.

The first image in this post depicts the printable version of this design...in lots of colorful hues to make you smile. The printable is a horizontal one. And below, find the SVG design. How to Use the You are My Sunshine SVG
- This You are My Sunshine SVG design is for personal use only. Please do not create and resell any items or crafts using this SVG featured on them, unless you purchase a commercial use license (more info on that below). You're more than welcome to make items for yourself or for gifts. If you have any usage questions, check out my complete Terms of Use.
- This SVG or cut file is compatible with most software for both Cricut and Silhouette machines. I have also included a PNG file for those of you with a different type of software.
- Don't have a machine for using SVGs and cut files? I really enjoy my Silhouette Cameo that I've owned for over five years (this is not a sponsored post). It's been a wonderful addition to my craft room and home.
- I have a lot of blog friends who use the Cricut brand cutter. Personally, I am not familiar with the Cricut, but my friend, Amy (she blogs over at The Happy Scraps) has a great post about the Cricut Explore Air 2 here.
- This You are My Sunshine SVG file is compatible with regular paper, cardstock, crafting vinyl, and heat transfer vinyl (HTV). There are lots of crafting projects to be done with this one, y'all!
- I use heat transfer vinyl for kitchen towels, pillows, tote bags, blankets, and t-shirts. But regular crafting vinyl can create some adorable signs and mugs with this same design, too. Personally, I think using this file on a pillow is pretty cute...especially for a kid's room.
- If you are using heat transfer vinyl for a fabric project, don't forget to both reverse the design within your design software. And be sure to cut on the "wrong side" of the HTV. There is a Cricut-specific guide on how to do this here. However, I'm a Silhouette user and always refer to Mandy's helpful HTV video here. Mandy is the blogger behind Sugar Bee Crafts.
- All of my SVG and cut file designs that I share here on I Should Be Mopping the Floor are created for those who are *somewhat* familiar with using SVG files already. However, if you're newer to the world of SVG, Cheryl, over at That's What Che Said has an easy-to-follow guide on How to Use SVG Files.
Commercial Licensing
If you own a small business and would like to use this You are My Sunshine SVG File for your business, you can purchase a commercial license here. It is good to use on all of these SVGs listed here.
Download the You are My Sunshine SVG Files
Both the SVG and PNG files are available below for you to download. The SVG is able to be easily resized up or down for whatever fun project you're using it for. The actual files you download will look like the image below, however, without any of the watermarks.
Printing and Using the You are My Sunshine Printables
- These printables come in 8x10" and 5x7" sizes.
- The printables are available in both PDF and JPEG formats for your printing convenience.
- Just like the coordinating SVG files, these printables are for personal use only. Please do not recreate them and resell them.
- The 5x7" PDF has two of the designs per page, for less paper waste. With two designs, there is one to keep and one to share.
- For at-home printing, be sure to use white, letter-sized cardstock. Regular paper is too thin and can alter the appearance of the design's colors.
- Grab a ream of the same white letter-sized cardstock I use here on Amazon. They have the best price for it.
- Print using the NORMAL setting on your printer.
- The JPEGs can even be uploaded to your favorite photo printing place to be printed like an image.

- If you prefer, you can also download all of these files via Dropbox here.
- Or, if you're a Google Drive user, I have them available here, as well.
More Free SVGs and Printables
- My free Faith Over Fear SVG and Printable is a reader-favorite for sure. It is also available in a greeting card version, along with the prints and cut files.
- And this Chaos Coordinator SVG also has a coordinating printable, as well. It's perfect for teachers and moms...and well, anyone coordinating chaos (isn't that all of us?).
- These free Unicorn SVG files from Hello, Creative Family are seriously adorable.
Interesting bit of trivia for you that hardly anyone in this world knows. My husband's great grandmother wrote "You are my Sunshine" for a radio contest. She entered it and won. But her "prize" was to have it stolen and published under at least 2-3 other men's names. That was long before copyright laws and she never received any credit for the very sad/dark lyrics she wrote so many years ago.
ReplyDeleteAwww, goodness. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless her and much appreciation for sharing her talents and words. But, gosh, that does stink. I'm so sorry. xoxo

ReplyDeleteIn the pictures above the sign framed in wood has a different color scheme. Is that version available as a printable?
Thanks for all the printables I've enjoyed already!
Kim
Hi Kim...it's such a great one to sing to the littles, isn't it? That one is actually a sign made from the SVG file using vinyl. I apologize for that confusion and any inconvenience. Appreciate you stopping by. xoxo
DeleteThanks for all your beautiful freebies! They bring such joy to me whether I frame them and hang on my wall or use them as cards or in my journal!
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know, I ordered another pack of cardstock from your link and it's on sale right now. It's always a good price, but really good right now!
Awww...thank you so much for these kind words. That means so much to me. And that's good to know...I may need to stock up! xoxo
DeleteHi! Thanks for this beautiful file! I am wanting to make a coordinating shirt for my two year old that says you make me happy. I can pull together the “you make me” from the original letters, but I would like to put “happy” in the same font as sunshine. Are you willing to tell me what font you used? I have searched, but nothing is exactly right.
ReplyDeleteHi Whitney-- Thank you so much for your kind words. For some reason, I'm having a tough time locating the unflattened file to give you a definite answer on this. However, after some research, the font Rwanda Regular is super similar...(the tittle, or "dot" over the i, is the biggest difference, but it's more of a playful one that would still match the rest of the font...and it doesn't sound like you'll even need that letter). Hoping this helps a bit. xoxo
DeleteThank you so much! I’m sure I submitted that comment 1,000 times. Haha I’m sorry, my phone was not cooperating and I didn’t even know it worked. I appreciate you taking the time to look for me. I will try to send a picture when I get them finished! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Can't wait to see the end result. xoxo
DeleteYour talent is limitless! I just cannot get enough of your art. I am so glad you are not mopping!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you so much for those kind words, Betsy! They're very much appreciated. xoxo
