I've been hard at work on this St. Patrick's Day Embroidery Design...it's one of my favorite hoop art pieces, so far. It's very simple, but has a fun, colorful look to it. How to Embroider Leaves the Easy Way

Today, I'm sharing how to embroider leaves the easy way...well, at least I'm calling it the easy way. Embroidered leaves have always fascinated me. This method isn't too overly neat and orderly...it leaves a little room for your own interpretation, regarding stitch lengths and shapes. Hope you enjoy this little tutorial for how to embroider leaves...at least, the easiest way I know. 

I feel like leaves are such a big part of embroidered designs...they can anchor and really make smaller floral embroidery pieces work together perfectly. For the longest time (well, relatively speaking, I've only been embroidering for about a year), I would stick to the crazy daisy stitch and change it up for different leaf sizes. The only issue was that all of my leaves were hollow. I played around with lots of filling and satin stitches and kind of married two methods in this tutorial for How to Embroider Leaves the Easy Way. Check it out below.

This Spring Embroidery Hoop Art is my most detailed hoop, yet. I've just started embroidery hoop art about a year ago, and have been working my way up to more difficult pieces. My contribution of an embroidery hoop is one of my favorite thrifty decor items...embroidery is a relatively inexpensive hobby and I LOVE finding hoops (and floss and fabric, too) at my local thrift stores. This Spring Embroidery Hoop Art is a great embroidery hoop pattern for beginners. In another post, I've also shared a complete tutorial on how to embroider the leaves on this hoop, as well.

Vintage Guest Bedroom Ideas

I'm sharing my vintage guest bedroom ideas today...all surrounding our new (very) blue room. I am really pleased with how this room came together. Besides the bedding and bed itself, everything in this room was thrifted, handed down, or found at an estate sale. Check out these fun and funky (and frugal!) guest bedroom ideas below.

When we bought this house, we loved this space. Originally, we had thought my parents would be moving into this room and its den that is right next door to it. There is also a large, handicapped accessible bathroom attached to this bedroom...making it an ideal spot for them. However, their health needs and situation have somewhat shifted, and we're not completely sure it will all play out like we originally thought. Instead of leaving it in its blank state, we went ahead and fluffed it up a bit for our guests who use this room...now it reflects our own tastes a bit more. I'm sharing my favorite guest bedroom ideas to make a spot for your people that is both functional and budget-friendly (and vintage!).
