My hairstylist, (she's also my husband's cousin), introduced me to the magic that is Poo-Pourri a few years back. I've never been without a bottle ever since. My go-to scents are the Original Citrus and Lavender Vanilla, but during the holidays, it's so fun to carry around the Secret Santa variety. Secret Santa will give you a one-way ticket to the Nice List by leaving the toilet smelling better than you found it. This blend of cinnamon, vanilla, and citrus natural essential oils eliminates bathroom odor before it begins by creating a barrier on the water's surface. This is how all of the Poo~Pourri bottles work...they're so cool! This protective barrier traps odor under the surface, before it even has a chance to start! All you’ll smell is a refreshing bouquet of NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS.
These miniature fabric gift bags are so easy to make...you'll want to buy lots of Poo~Pourri to put inside all of them. I'm making these for my hostess gifts at parties this year. Every hostess wants a nice smelling bathroom. Poo~Pourri is the gift they’ll remember for the smell they’d rather forget.
Just use a basic stitch around those three unpinned sides,
using a backstitch at both ends.
Clip your corners so they'll be nice and crisp with you turn right side out.
Turn the piece right side out and press well for crisp corners and edges.
Fold in the unsewn side half an inch. Press it closed.
You won't do a backstitch here, we'll finish it in the photo below. Use your quarter inch seam allowance and a basic stitch around the entire piece.
Tie off the excess threads to one another on each side,
then clip the leftover thread.
I attached my snap pieces with the tool they came with. If you prefer, you can use the sew-in type of snap or even hook and loop tape.
I have to tell you, I once had a flight attendant tell me they kept Poo~Pourri on hand for their flights to be used in plane lavatories. He spotted the bottle in my bag and couldn't wait to tell me how great he thought the stuff was, too. I couldn't agree more. And these little Miniature Fabric Gift Bags are a discreet way to carry them in your purse (they make it easy to hand a bottle to a friend when she is in need, especially in a public place). I always have a bottle when I'm sharing a hotel room with a friend, as well.
I love the Secret Santa Poo~Pourri, but the Merry Spritzmas® one is also fantastic this time of the year. You can add a spritz of holiday magic by leaving the porcelain sleigh smelling better than you found it. Poo~Pourri Merry Spritzmas® is a blend of peppermint, vanilla and citrus natural essential oils that eliminates bathroom odor before it begins by creating that same barrier on the water's surface. Smelling is believing, y'all!
Don't sew? Poo~Pourri also has these fun Merry Spritzmas® Ornaments all ready to go for an even easier gift. I plan to leave one on my hairstylist's tree next week when I see her. Click here to grab one and be sure to use code MOP for a discount.
You'll need two coordinating fabrics (one for lining, one for the outer fabric). Cut each fabric into a long 15"x4.5" rectangle.
You'll also need pins, thread, your sewing machine, scissors, and snaps (you can use hook and loop tape if you would prefer). You will also want to make sure your iron is hot and ready.
Lay your fabrics right side together and pin one of the short ends together. You'll be sewing the other three edges together with a quarter inch seam allowance. You will leave the pinned side of the piece unsewn.
using a backstitch at both ends.
Clip your corners so they'll be nice and crisp with you turn right side out.
Fold six inches of the fabric onto itself (pictured above), and pin in place, leaving a flap at the top. Make sure the right side (outer fabric) is on the outside now). You will now do a topstitch around the entire perimeter, closing the open seam with it.
Do not clip your excess threads, yet.
then clip the leftover thread.
I thought the leopard was really fun for the holiday season, but also perfect for the rest of the year, too
These Miniature Fabric Gift Bags are perfectly sized to fit the bottles of Poo~Pourri. They make excellent gifts...especially for hostesses whose bathrooms will be busy at all of their holiday parties. I have a free printable tag you can attach to each bag and leave for your hostess.
