These Free Printable Handmade Tags are perfect for all kinds of makers. I'm in love with labeling all of my handmade gifts with these cute little guys. They're even designated with different types of tools...from a sewing machine to crochet needles.
This isn't my only set of free printable handmade tags, but I wanted something that can be used on things other than gifts. I'm breaking a few of my own rules and giving you carte blanche on the usage for these...well, please don't sell the actual tags. But, feel free to use them on all of your items in your handmade shop or even your Etsy store. I think the art of handmade needs to be promoted in every way possible, so I'd be honored to be a part of your creations in this manner. Download these free printable handmade tags below. UPDATE: I've now separated these handmade tags into four separate downloads so you can pick and choose which design works best for you.
Free Printable Handmade Tags
So many of you are makers. I just had to offer this kind of tag for you to attach to all of your handmade goodies. These are designed to work with the sewing/knitting/textile types of goodies. I also have this more generic free Handmade with Love tag that will work on more than just sewing gifts.
But honestly, these were made with my sister-in-law, Lisa, in mind. When I was little, she sewed me several outfits for a few of my dolls. Inside was a little tag that read Sewn Especially for You by Lisa. Even as a child, that tag was so special to me. I distinctly remember running my fingers over the words that were in blue and red embroidery on a cream background. I knew no other dolls had these clothes...they were made just for my dolls. And I loved them so much. And I loved that they were sewn especially for me by Lisa.
I think I'm in love with the vintage sewing machine icon on these...and that spool, too. Actually, I love 'em all. I'm just a sucker for a cute, lil' tag. And these are definitely of the more mini tag variety. Their light vintage-y background is built into the design, too. I print these ahead of time, cut them out, and have them in a box ready for handmade gifts.
How to Use These Printable Handmade Tags
- Download your printable handmade tags below.
- Tags, like these, always turn out so much better when printed onto white cardstock, instead of regular printer paper. Regular printer paper tends to curl up on the edges once it's cut into the tag shape.
- I buy my own white cardstock here on Amazon for the best price I can find.
- Print these using your BEST or NORMAL ink setting on your printer. You can also set them in grayscale, but the cream background will have a darker look to it (but it's a simple way to save ink, if you'd like to go that route).
- Cut each tag out around the black border.
- Since these are all straight line cuts, I like to use a paper trimmer like this one on Amazon to make quick work of it.
- As always, I highly recommend getting yourself a smaller sized hole punch for tags like these. They don't interfere with tag designs like standard hole punches tend to.
- These look particularly adorable when paired with black and white baker's twine (that's what I've used in all of the photos of this post).
- I grab baker's twine here on Amazon. It's priced better there than at my craft store. However, I have stumbled onto it at Tuesday Morning from time to time, as well.

These are adorable, but I would love to see a version with a crochet hook with a ball of yarn. A lot of people lump knitting in with crocheting, but they are different crafts. Maybe it's nitpicking (pun unintended but appropriate), but I feel knitting symbols (here and elsewhere) misrepresent my creations for loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your feedback, Beth. The crochet design is definitely going on my to-do list. I appreciate you stopping by. xoxo
