Who is ready for the FOURTH OF JULY? It's truly one of my favorite holidays. Red, white, & blue, patriotism, cookouts, and good times...what's not to love, right? I tend to decorate the outside of my house more for this holiday, rather than the inside. This Budget-Friendly Fourth of July Wreath is perfect for any outside area (or inside, too). And...get this, I made this wreath from decorative patriotic hair ties from 99 Cents Only Stores. HAIR TIES, y'all!
I love having pretty wreaths on the front door for the seasons...and I tend to overdo (is that even a thing?) the red, white, and blue during the summer. But, y'all...wreaths get spendy. I saw the prettiest one at a craft fair but couldn't justify its $150 price tag. This budget-friendly Fourth of July wreath I made with hair ties is a really similar style to the one at the fair. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Not going to lie...in my head, things always look great. But, let's face it: that isn't always how it works out once it comes to fruition. Thankfully, this patriotic wreath turned out even better than I thought it would.
I bought all of my supplies for this one at the 99. 99 Cents Only stores have all of your favorite name brands at a price that can't be beat. There is always something new and exciting at the 99. You never know what you'll find when you "do the 99" (shop at 99 Cents Only Stores)!
I grabbed the patriotic hats, too...I thought about tying them into the wreath, but I ended up finding another cute decorative use for them (pictured later in this post). I was able to grab the wooden "4" and the mini chalkboard, along with craft paint in the crafting aisle at the 99.
The fourth of July stuff was all super-duper cute. We're traveling this year, but if I were going to have a party, I would have grabbed all of the cute paper goods (those treat cups are so fun!). You can see the hair ties I used up on the top left of the above photo. I purchased 24 packages (at .99 each). Each package of hair ties had two ties in it (I actually didn't realize that until I got home...score!).
I did not pull the ties apart at all. I simply tied them with their ribbons onto a wire wreath form. The craft section at the 99 has several wreath forms...you can make this work with a styrofoam form, too...just glue the ribbons onto it.
I just tied and tied and tied...all the way around the wreath until it was full and fluffy.
Set aside the wreath while you paint your number 4.
I painted the wooden "4" I purchased with the red acrylic paint from the craft aisle at the 99.
There were lots of fun wooden letters and numbers available in the craft aisle of the 99.
I used one of the little chalkboards I found at the 99 and removed the back stick on it. I primed it with the side of a piece of chalk...then wrote "th" on it to indicate "4th" when it's paired with my number.
Hot glue your number and chalkboard piece onto the wreath. I grabbed a pack of extra hot glue sticks at the 99, too.
Ponytail holders for the win, y'all!
What kind of decorating do you do for the fourth?
What a fun (and easy!) craft idea for 4th of July decorating! We also love decorating outside of our house for the 4th, but we don't have a good red, white and blue wreath. This idea will be perfect! Thanks for sharing! #client
ReplyDeleteSo clever! Love this, going to share with my cousin for her 4th of July party! Also going to share this on my Friday Favorites this week! So creative!
ReplyDeleteDitto what these guys have already said, and I'm really delighted with the banner of tiny hats!
ReplyDeleteI love to take the time to do a craft and this one certainly will be on my list! Thanks for sharing on Inspirational Monday! :)
ReplyDeleteYou always make the cutest crafts imaginable, Kristi! I love this, and of course, the polka dots!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited about this that I rushed out this morning to obtain all the pony holders I could find. but, can't see how the elastic part meshed into your wreath. I'm having to loop one ribbon from the next holder into the elastic to keep them from just drooping. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteMine initially showed, but once I got all of them in place, they kind of blend in to the background. You can also flip the wreath over and pull them towards the backside. Hope this helps!
