I love my IKEA Ektorp couch! So much so, that I bought a second one (I know, I know). But, seriously...this sofa is super affordable and versatile. AND, it's really comfy, too. Check out my multiple ways to style an Ektorp below.
Be sure to check out all of my friends' awesome sofas at the bottom of this post, too!
We bought the white Ektorp sectional for our television room. It's truly my favorite couch in the house...the corner is nap central (it has some sort of captivating aura about it...I can not figure it out...nor resist it). This is how our white Ektorp sectional usually looks. I like some colorful pillows on it for a fun and playful look.
Sometimes, I warm it up with a cozy throw on one of the arms, too.
But, the beauty of the Ektorp is how versatile it is, y'all. This is our other Ektorp. We purchased it for the sunroom. This one has the cream colored (linen-like) slipcover. Using a bold, buffalo check blanket (I made the one pictured above here), and a little pop of red gives it a classic, graphic look. I'm a typography geek, so I love a good word pillow, too.
On a side note, I had actually wanted another white Ektorp in the sunroom, too, originally. But, this creamy-linen one was on clearance the day we went to IKEA and was $100 less than the white. I actually like the darker color in here...the dogs pass through here a floppity jillion times a day with all their fluff and fuzz, so this hides a bit more than the white one does.
To give that same sofa a more colorful farmhouse vibe, I switched it up with a cherished family quilt, the same red pillow, and a LOVE YOU MORE "mini pillow" that I snagged here on Amazon. I thought this was a fun Valentine's look. I think farmhouse decor has started to take on more whites and neutrals, but I'm still a color-saturated girl in my decor.
The final, style I wanted to share is a more romantic look. This faux-fur throw is to die for, y'all (seriously). It softens the look of this sofa. The light pink, feminine pom pom pillow and contrasting aqua, tufted round pillow add to that romantic vibe. Who doesn't love a good button tuft, right?
I purchased the pom pom pillow here on Amazon.
I purchased the white faux fur throw here on Amazon.
I have had to wrangle a kid off this blanket. We all fight over it...so soft.
How do you like to dress up a plain couch?

This sofa is so pretty, Kristi! I love the idea of 2 sofaa across from each other and would do it if I had a nice big family room like you! I love your new house. You are one lucky lady!! XO
ReplyDeleteI was dying laughing about the allure of the corner seat. That's me exactly, I think it makes me feel like a kid. Whatever it is, I love it! Your styling is beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteI have really been wanting the white Ektorp for a while now for the living room. You kind of sold me with preteens and the dogs. It just opens the door to so many pillow opportunities! I have a problem in that department. Both Ektorps and your styling are just beautiful!
