Needing a fun gift for the tea drinkers in your life? Put together simple gift baskets with all of the essentials (including some amazing honey!) then just add my free printable tea gift tags for a special touch. I've got all of the things you'll need below...along with a quick overview of brewing loose tea!
I've gotten really into tea the last few years...I used to never drink it, but now I chase my coffee with it EVERY morning. While I tend to take the easy route (I use the pods in my coffee maker...gah!), it is fun to indulge and make a really special cup of tea with loose tea leaves every now and then. My mother-in-law enjoys her tea this way...she's a definite tea connoisseur. I thought it would be fun to put together a basket or two of upscale tea service for all of those TEA-riffic folks in our life.
I kept my gift basket simple: loose tea, a festive mug, a tea towel, a mesh tea ball, honey dippers (because they're so cute!), and a Don Victor® Orange Blossom Comb Honey Globe Jar.
This honey is truly a work of art in itself. Don Victor® Honey contains a honeycomb inside the jar. Don Victor® Honey is ideal for gift giving and entertaining during the holidays. It is a simple and easy...yet gourmet gift.
Even better? The honeycomb in the Don Victor® Orange Blossom Comb Honey Globe Jar can be eaten, y'all. I love to put a piece of it in the bottom of my tea cup before brewing my tea so it sweetens it perfectly. It's also delicious on toasted bread or muffins. While your toast or muffin is still very hot, spread it lightly with butter. Then, cut a chunk of honeycomb and spread it on top of the butter. You can mash it a bit...the heat should soften the comb so it flattens right into your toast or muffin, along with the honey. Be sure to try it on hot biscuits, pancakes, and waffles, too, for that extra special touch.
To get your basket ready, add some excelsior for some cushion to protect the items you're adding. You can find excelsior in craft stores...it's very pliable. Just work it with your hands to get the right shape for your items to fit into. I actually thought it would be fun to use a canvas tote instead of a traditional basket. I tend to get rid of baskets pretty frequently...a canvas tote might be something the recipient can use a bit more after the holidays.
I lay my tea towel in first (on top of the excelsior). Then I add all of my items on top of it. I love to make sure the Don Victor® Orange Blossom Comb Honey Globe Jar is front and center...it's so pretty with the honeycomb inside of it.
Finishing the gift with a cute tag, some baker's twine, and a jingle bell makes it a little festive.
These work best printed on to card stock.
The perfect gift for a tea lover, right?
Place about a teaspoon of loose tea into your mesh tea ball.
Set the ball into your cup next to your honeycomb.
Add your hot (nearly boiling) water to fill your cup.
Allow the tea to steep for 3-5 minutes and then remove the ball.
It is not necessary to remove the honeycomb...after all, it's edible!
Add more honey to taste.
I buy my Don Victor® Honey at Walmart, in the Hispanic foods aisle.
I grabbed one for my gift basket and of course, a couple for myself.
Be sure to also check out my Holiday Honey and Pear Cake here, too.
It's also made with Don Victor® Honey.
This honey is perfect for your Christmas recipes as well as holiday entertaining.
Hope your holidays are SWEET (pun intended, wink).
Okay, now this makes for a great little gift. Our teenage daughter is a tea drinker and loves to add honey to her teas. She is also really into all natural products and herbs. Now I have to put this together for her. She is going to love it.
