This little DIY Coffee Tray was simple to put together.
It's perfect for lazy Saturday morning coffee in bed...one of the best luxuries.
I feel like bedside coffee is one of those little luxuries in life. It's not fancy...but it's very enjoyable, you know? A few years ago at a conference, I roomed with a friend who ordered coffee service to the room every morning...and I was instantly hooked. Ever since then, I've started doing that when we stay in hotels that provide that service. And I really love doing it at home. Our bedroom is on the other side of the house from the kitchen. My husband is a doll and started this little practice when we moved into our new place last spring. Every Saturday morning, he brings coffee to our bedroom. We've used this large melamine tray that I've had since college and it was massive (and slippery)...cups would slide all over the thing. I thought it would be fun to make a small tray that would work perfectly for our in-home coffee service situation. I modeled this tray similarly to the large one I made to corral items on my kitchen island...using a wooden canvas for the base. But the difference is that this one is smaller and mobile. Check out the entire tutorial below.
And with coffee this time of the year, we make it even more delicious with
International Delight's Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer.
I started with a 12"x12" wooden canvas and painted it with white chalk paint (all over).
I use my wax puck as a barrier on the edges of the dried white-painted canvas.
This helps the paint to not stick as well to these areas, so I can weather it easily later.
If you don't have a wax puck, you can use the side of a taper candle.
Then I used a brown color of chalk paint and went all over the canvas with it (over the wax).
After the brown paint was dry, I sanded the edges thoroughly to allow that white to come through.
I actually made my own white wax by mixing a tiny bit of white paint with natural wax.
Then I just worked it into the finish to give it a really fun, almost woodsy, finish.
After the wax had set in, I measured for my handles.
I just used standard drawer pulls for these.
I predrilled my holes.
And then attached the pulls.
The perfect little DIY Coffee Tray.
Pumpkin Pie Spice from International Delight. It makes coffee in bed even better.
I've used this creamer for years and it's the perfect medley of fall in a cup with my coffee.
Its flavors are inspired by the traditional pumpkin pie.
It's fall in a cup, y'all.
Oh, and hey...if you remember, I'm down here in Texas, where it doesn't always feel like fall in October. This new International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice Iced Coffee is perfect for those mornings when cozy is so over rated...and cool is all the rage. Because when it's still hitting the 90s, iced coffee is perfection.
