As I mentioned above, this crate has a neutral side to it, too. I use these for everything. This was our previous home's dining room and they worked perfectly to store all of our china, serving pieces, and table linens (in this new home, I actually have room for my china cabinets in the dining room, so these shelves and crates are now in our piano room holding my kids' piano music and my husband's (rapidly growing) vinyl collection.

 And voila...a quick flip around and we have the holiday crates in place!

So, this started out as an unfinished crate from IKEA for less than $10. 
They come sanded, but do require assembly (of course, right?).

This was a super quick finish I did on these. I just painted one plank on each crate the color of the lettering. Then I added vinyl wording on top once it was dry. I use my craft cutter, but vinyl lettering can be found at any craft store. After the lettering went down, I painted my outer color (a very light aqua blue). I did use chalk paint for the base coats so they "stick" really well. After the final coat of paint had dried, I pulled off the vinyl to reveal the wording. Then I just sanded the edges a bit to give these a worn look.

I think the uses for these are endless...would be fun stuffed with presents, too!
