This fun and eclectic tween boy's bedroom is done!
It was not without its challenges, but its resident (and his mom) are pretty happy with how it all came together.
When we ventured out into the "no more characters or cutesy" phase of decorating with my youngest, my heart kind of sank a bit. That last little bit of baby is long gone. My nine-year-old is now one super independent and very opinionated young man. He was weighing in on every decision in this space with lots and lots of reasoning. It's so fun watching him grow, but wow...glad we won't have to redecorate for a while with this one! ;) Check out the entire space below. And be sure to enter our $250 MINTED giveaway, too!
Yesterday, I shared the gallery wall in this room here.
It was lots of fun to put together...full of great photos.
The two twin beds in here were in his room in our old home, too. I scored them several years ago at a consignment store in our town. I really love their style. And having two of them makes the space perfect for sleepovers. This room is bit tight with two beds, but it still works out okay.
The little rolling cart in the corner is packed with plushies...one thing that didn't get paired down (gah!). But the drapes are definitely my favorite. They're from MINTED. I also have drapes from MINTED in our family room, too.
Here's a close up of the pattern I chose (there are, literally, hundreds to choose from).
This one if called Herringbone Stack and I ordered the navy.

I found this old mid-century modern metal cart at my favorite junkin' store.
I took it a part and painted the trays navy to match the room.
The vintage soda box is perfect for small toys and figures.
The color of the walls is Smooth Stone from Glidden.
We've had the bedding for a bit...it's that fun zip-up bedding that's easy to make.
The cardboard deer trophies were in our breakfast room in our previous home.
The yellow waterfall dresser was a makeover piece from Goodwill (for $25!!).
And the fun HEY, HANDSOME artwork was also from MINTED here.
It's a part of their foil-stamped collection.
They have loads of great artwork that I shared in yesterday's post here.
This lamp was also a Goodwill makeover from years ago.
I first changed it from brass to red. Now to navy blue.
Spray paint works wonders!
The Watercolor Ombre pillow (in Ceylon Yellow) ties in the waterfall dresser perfectly.
It's available in 10 different colors from MINTED here.
You can win $250 to spend at MINTED on fun things for your home, too!

I feel jealous... when I was a kid, I didn't have such a lovely bedroom such as this! HAHA! Nevertheless, you really did a great job on this one and I bet your kids will love it a ton. (I mean I already am, haha!)
ReplyDeleteI love this space! The combination of colors is beautiful and bright, but not overbearing. I've never seen bedding quite like that before, but it sure looks like it would make making it a breeze!
ReplyDeleteI love the red, yellow and blue color scheme! Such a great pick for the boys. I do love the drapes, but I think that yellow dresser is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this bedroom design! So prefect for a tween boy. And, right on time for me as my 9 yo has been asking me to remodel his room for years so it's on my to-do list for his 10th birthday as a surprise. I'll definitely be using this as inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteMy twins recently turned ten and I will be updating their room as well. I think you made a great transition from toddler to tween!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. Is it always this tidy? I type that as I have just passed my lads bedroom and ...humm I'd rather not go into detail!
ReplyDeleteI love that your son had strong ideas about what he wants - can make things interesting but you wouldn't have it any other way really would you?!
What a sweet boys room! I REALLY wish mine hadn't grown up so I could decorate a room like this again. It looks so cute. If you have time, I’d love it if you could share this with me and my co-hosts over at the Dishing It & Digging It Link Party, I think our followers would love it. It goes live at 4 pm est today. http://www.rustic-refined.com/
ReplyDeleteIf not, I am still glad I found your blog, it brought back some great memories of mommyhood. Have a great week!
