Free Morning Routine Printable
We've had a wonderful summer...but all good things must come to an end, right (womp, womp)? Before long, we'll be off and running and back into total school mode. But, these two turkeys don't just roll out of bed like this (honestly, neither do I). We've used morning routine lists for a number of years to make sure we're ready to rock the day.
Benefits of a Morning Routine
Do your kids follow a morning routine? I have to say, we love ours. I'm a big believer of routines. Below are a few reasons why (these are truly just my opinions).
- I've read in so many studies that following the same routine tasks day after day can give an actual signal to your brain that "something" is coming up and your body is ready for it.
- Since starting my kids on their own morning routines several years ago, it's really helped those crazy times of the day to flow much smoother. These days, the boys get up on their own and do it all through breakfast...which sometimes is cereal they pour themselves, too!
- Since my husband and I both work, these types of schedules are much needed and a sanity saver. We can focus on readying ourselves for the day and keep and eye and ear out in case our kids need anything in the process.
- This is just our own family's preference, but we make sure we're dressed from head to toe before eating breakfast. If we can get to this dressed point, then it's all downhill before we hit the door. Even beds get made before breakfast.
- Things may not be done perfectly...but we do the best we can to get off on a tidy and timely foot. Our newest motto around these parts is "Done is Better Than Perfect". While that often ruffles my type A personality, it's definitely a great motto to work into family life. And this morning routine printable completely helps with the done factor as far as before-school tasks go.
Free Morning Routine Printable Designs
Below are the three designs available for download. I included a print with checkboxes, one without, and one that is blank so you can make your own routine. All of these can be laminated and framed to use over and over with a dry erase. The tasks included on the pre-filled-in lists are:- Rise & Shine: Time to Wake Up
- Make Your Bed
- Get Dressed from Head to Toe
- Eat Breakfast
- Gather Your School Stuff
- Have a Wonderful Day
And the above is the version without check boxes. One of my kids prefers this one instead of having to mess with finding a pen or pencil and fiddling with the additional task of checking things off. It only takes a quick glance or two in the morning process to keep him on task.
Printing and Laminating Your Routine Printables
- You'll be able to download your favorite free morning routine printable below the following image.
- Print onto regular printer paper if laminating.
- Print onto white cardstock if framing or using on its own. This creates durability, as well as a print that looks nice in a frame with colors that pop off the crisp white background.
- Grab a ream of white cardstock here on Amazon for the cheapest price around. It's where I purchase all of my own white cardstock (I have quite the stash!).
- To laminate your print, either take it to your local printing company (I often use our local FedEx office) and have them professionally laminate for a nominal fee, or self-laminate at home.
- Curious about self laminating? I use self-laminating sheets from Avery that I keep on hand at home. It makes it simple to laminate on the fly plus it's cheaper to do it at home.
- Grab a set of these self-laminating sheets here on Amazon. They're a bit pricier at Walmart, so I usually order enough to have a few on hand. My kids use them for projects, too.
- Whether framing with glass on top or laminating, you can use these printables with dry erase markers over and over.
