These Pesto Pinwheels are the perfect addition to your next party!
In the past, I've always made pinwheels (or "tortilla roll-ups" as my husband calls them) with a spicy Mexican twist. But, a few weeks ago, I hosted an essential oils class at my home and wanted to create a pinwheel that I could use my Oregano oil in {cooking with essential oils...another fun way to use them!}. I had a jar of pesto in the pantry, so it was kind of a "bada bing, bada boom" situation. I think I love these even more than my old pinwheels, y'all. They were addictive.
Pesto Pinwheels
Ingredients:
- 6 burrito-sized flour or wheat tortillas
- 2 blocks of cream cheese {can use 1/3 less fat kind}
- 1 jar {8.1 ounce} prepared pesto {can use homemade}
- 1 {8 ounce} bag part skim mozzarella cheese shreds
- 1 drop Oregano Essential Oil {see purchasing info below}
- handful of chopped fresh basil
- olives {optional}
Directions:
Combine cream cheese, pesto, cheese shreds, and Oregano in a food processor and mix until combined. Spread mixture evenly only tortillas and sprinkle with chopped basil. Roll up. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Remove plastic wrap and slice in one-inch sections. Secure with toothpick and add olive, if desired.
Oregano is a very powerful and strong essential oil, so only one drop is needed. Besides cooking with Oregano, I also use it on my family's feet for its amazing wellness properties. It's a great addition to our family's health needs. Oregano is one of those oils I'll never be without. Powerhouse oil, indeed!
So delicious and perfect for entertaining!
They will all disappear. ;)
If you'd like to chat more about essential oils, I'd love to visit. My family has been oily for nearly a year. Young Living Essential Oils have changed our lives in ways I can't even begin to describe. I'm apart of an amazing support team, as well. We are very strong believers in oil education and we work together to learn more all the time. If you decide to try essential oils, you never have to "sell oils" or anything like that. Some of us just do that to get the cost of our own oils covered...and then some!
