I'm including my tips for "clean once...maintain all season long" below {and special ideas to prepare for overnight friends and family}.

This little family member above makes things interesting as I prepare for guests and entertaining this holiday season. I don't want anyone to feel like they're spending the night at a kennel {nor do we love that feeling either}.

TIPS FOR PREPARING FOR OVERNIGHT HOLIDAY GUESTS:
- Deep clean carpets and rugs throughout the home. Use a solution with Scotch Guard to protect from future stains. Bissell's Scotchgard Protector Carpet Cleaning Solution is a really good one.
- Buy new {or super sanitize} towels and linens that guests will be using. I like to grab new towels for guests...ours always seem threadbare by the time the holidays roll around. I have a couple of sets of sheets that I use only when guests come {my kids' rooms double as guest rooms}. The Star Wars sheets take a small hiatus when company is spending the night.
- Put a new bar of soap {I like to keep it in the box so guests know it's new} in the shower. Consider adding shampoos and other little luxuries to the shower and bathroom, too. I have to admit, using soap at someone else's house that I know has been used before me gives me the weirds. I just can't, y'all. I honestly have pretty sensitive skin...when I travel, I scoop up all those little luxury hotel soaps and bring them home with me {insert my husband's eyeroll...every time}. I keep them in my closet until guests come. Then I set them out for their use {nobody's skin is as crazy sensitive as mine...so they're usually delighted with fun little luxury products}.
- Deep clean the room your guests are staying in. You never know when someone will drop an earring behind a piece of furniture...only to move it and discover a whole pile of dust bunnies {this may or may not have happened to me with one of my guests in the past...gah!}. I may not deep clean the entire home, but the room guests stay in definitely gets the star treatment.
I've already been a Scotchgard-ing fool for as long as I can remember {every time a new piece of furniture comes into my home, it gets coated}. I love that the Bissell cleaners have Scotchgard in them to protect my carpets. Makes entertaining clean ups a breeze!

ReplyDeleteA new Bissell deep cleaning machine? I would be over the moon. We have one dog and you wouldn't think one dog could drag in too much dirt but mine seems to bring in enough for three dogs. I can't keep up and with beige carpeting you can imagine how dingy our house looks. I'd love this. What an incredible gift it would be!

ReplyDeleteFunny story... the first time my (now) husband brought me home to meet the parents... the only soap in my shower was a collection of soap "heels" (the parts you usually throw away) wrapped up in one of my mother in law''s used stockings. Talk about mortified!

ReplyDeleteI have several rugs and carpet that would really benefit from a Bissell cleaning. Our little dog is precious but sometimes leaves her mark when she is home alone. I'm sure the Bissell pet urine cleaner and machine would do a much better job than the spray cleaner I have been using.

ReplyDeleteI would love to win The Bissell Upright! I already have the Bissell Little Green machine for quick clean ups. Running to town to rent a machine and cleaning like a maniac to get done and return the machine before I have to pay a second days rental is a pain. My "furry son and daughter", Rufus and Paws, are getting up in years and accidents and upchucks happen more frequently. ReplyDeleteThis Bissell Carpet Cleaner would be a wonderful answer to my dilemna. I inherited a long-hair cat from my granddaughter and soon after my upright vacuum gave up the ghost and died. My carpet cleaner was borrowed by my daughter several years ago

My Three year old son just had a huge throw up accident two nights ago. I spent 2 hours on my knees trying to clean up the mess and I still cannot get the stench out. I love the 10 Rows of cleaning – dual rotating powerbrushes loosen and remove deep down dirt from carpets. Since there is no way I can do that with a rag I know I would worry less about the "accidents" in our home. ReplyDelete#2..I need this because like most between kids and pets..and, nasty weather issues due to tracking in gunk..I can really use this a whole lotta to de-stress my life..especially love that it really deep cleans carpets/rugs.

ReplyDeleteOur carpet had some pesky stains when we moved in, so we know it was a dirt magnet. Now add a preschooler and a toddler, and it always looks just... Dirty. One of these babies would really help the look and feel of the floor. And in less time, so I can spend more time making more messes with the kiddos :)

ReplyDeleteMy eight year old has cerebral palsy and is learning to use a cup and utensils. Food and drinks end up all over the dining room floor, which is carpet. I would love to use this piece of equipment to keep it clean and help him feel like he isn't creating a mess.

As much as I'd love to transition to all hard flooring in this house one day, that's just not in the budget at the moment...so in the meantime, a Bissell Deep Cleaning Machine would make me feel a lot better while helping to keep my kids' asthma under control!

ReplyDeleteI have two bissell vacuums, a hoover, and a shark vacuum, plus a hoover carpet cleaner (my mothers). I Love her carpet cleaner but it does not always get the stains out of the carpet. I would love to try a bissell carpet cleaner. If it works like my vacs, it should do a good job

ReplyDeleteThese large carpet cleaning machines seem pretty standard. Would there ever be a difference in how well the motor is able to suction compared to other brands? No one wants to get a machine that is going to leave one third of the dirt in the carpet. I am assuming that carpet cleaners and their life spans are similar in concept to other devices with motors.
