Back in my college days, I would come home to Austin on holidays and summers to work in a clothing shop. It was located in an old barn that had previously served as a restaurant. The old bar was still along one wall of the shop, and we would offer all of our customers a variety of beverages while they browsed. Guess whose job it was to make the coffee every morning? This girl. And everyone loved my coffee {or the coffee I was taught to make by my manager, wink}. To make the bargain coffee we used taste high end, we'd stir a few extra spices in it. Just a tablespoon would work for the industrial sized coffee maker we used...and people would rave over it and ask our secret. My favorite was simple cinnamon mixed in. You can make your own coffee the same way. Just use regular coffee grounds and stir in a teaspoon of cinnamon, or nutmeg...or even pumpkin pie spice! There's a lot of fun combinations you can come up with on this one. And it's very inexpensive to make a boatload of it for gifting.
At a wedding a few years ago, we were given the cutest favors of the couple's "perfect blend" {get it...they were blending their lives? There's a pun in there somewhere, y'all...promise}. It was in cute brown sacks with vintage lettering printed on it. I filed it in the back of my mind as a teacher gift for one day...with my own "special blend" that I learned from years before.
I fill a zipper-top sandwich bag with the coffee and seal it before adding it to these cute mini paper craft sacks I bought at the craft store. The sandwich bag is an extra step, but I think it keeps the coffee nice and fresh.
I folded my label in half and used a hole punch and peppermint-colored baker's twine to attach it to the bag...along with a festive jingle bell. Be sure to download your own free printable coffee blend bag toppers below. These will be a hit with your bunch!
And seriously, y'all. That creamer. It's so good.
