Put together a simple backyard S'mores Bar!
Here are a few ideas and fun things to get the party started.

Sometimes planning a gathering can be overwhelming. We often live in a state of striving for perfection when it comes to these kind of things {I am guilty!}. Putting something super-simple together to gather a few friends can be just as memorable and fun as an elaborate, stress-the-hostess-out kind of thing {been there, done that, bought the t-shirt}. This s'mores bar {along with a few other simple ideas} is a great way to have all the fun without all the work! Check out the details below>>>
If you follow my Instagram feed, you know the last two weeks, we've worked like crazy people to create a fire pit patio in our backyard. We're still not 100% done, but we've already enjoyed several evenings of fire pit goodness...and roasted marshmallow perfection. Now that we're all set for fire pit fun, having a s'mores bar is always a good idea. And nobody ever turns down this kind of invitation!
I started my s'mores bar by putting together some simple food tags using these nifty chalkboard labels I ordered from Bright Star Kids. They had a lot of different items that make throwing a simple party a breeze! I'm also in love with their Stabilo Chalk Pencil {and you know how I love to hand-chalk my boards}. This baby is my new go-to for all things chalky. And the liquid chalk marker was super cool, too!
Perfection. I even messed up on one and it was easy to just wipe and re-write.
Then they just peel and stick.
Don't they look super cute on my vintage-y jars? Perfect for s'mores fixings.
Keeping everything in clear glass containers keeps the outdoor bugs away...
and visually, it's just fun!
I used that blue chalk marker on my faux-chalkboard {black posterboard in a frame}.
I can easily erase and re-write anytime.
Having a bucket of pea gravel or sand makes a great place to stick skewers...it keeps them from getting tangled and they're easy for guests to grab.
It's fun to send the extras home with friends.
I used more chalkboard labels on some scrapbook paper for the tags.
I also think multiple activities bring a little excitement to the fun. We hung up a dollar store table cloth for some impromptu photo fun. It's easy to have guests take these photos of their family/friends...you can assign a hashtag to your gathering so everyone can follow all the photo fun from the get-together. We used the Chalkboard Speech Bubbles, also from Bright Star Kids, to create these. Each guest can write their own quote and then erase it. Makes for some serious laughs for the whole party!
Now, this is what it's all about.
The old wagon I used for this was actually my childhood one. I thought it brought a funky vintage vibe to the whole thing. And, it makes it nice to roll it over to the fire pit area for easy access to the goodies!

Happy S'mores Season!
