The Old Rugged Cross Hymn Printable

The Old Rugged Cross is such a beautiful hymn. I wanted to capture it in a different style of printable...something more personal, handwritten, and with a sketched quality to it. The Old Rugged Cross Hymn Printable is perfect to display year-round or even during the upcoming Easter season.

The Old Rugged Cross Hymn Printable

This beautiful hymn was written by George Bennard. It is his most well-known hymn and such a beautifully written one. Seeing a part of this hymn framed as a printable really helps me to dwell on the words:

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross

The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
And I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true
It's shame and reproach gladly bear
Then he'll call me someday to my home far away
Where his glory forever I'll share
And I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
And I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

Old Rugged Cross Printable Sizing Information

  • This printable is available in 8x10", 5x7", and 4x6" sizes.
  • An 8x10" print is most often a PDF file (at least that's how I do it here on I Should Be Mopping the Floor). When a file or printable is a PDF, it will stay true to size for you after you download it.
  • However, a lot of readers have requested that the smaller sizes be made into JPEGs. I always honor this request, but please note, sometimes your computer or download application will automatically resize your JPEG to optimize for faster downloading speeds (this often diminishes your printable's quality and often creates pixelated images).
  • To help with this, I create the 4x6" and 5x7" sizes in two different options: JPEGs and PDFs. The PDF versions have two images per page (one to keep and one to share!). You can print the PDFs at home without having to worry about image sizing or quality. The single JPEG images are also provided for you. They can be uploaded to a photo-printing place for easier printing, if you prefer.
