DIY Polaroid Display

This simple DIY Polaroid Display is an easy family photo display.

These type of displays are pretty popular these days. I thought I'd put my own spin on it using faux Polaroids {or, hey, let's call them fauxlaroids to be cute, shall we?}. Wink.

If I use a typical bulletin board display, I tend to crowd them and it always looks messy. I decided to keep a bit of consistency by giving them the fauxlaroid touch and only using photos.

I used an old frame that I'd had in the closet since I redid the kitchen this past summer. I took simple black and white baker's twine and strung it across in five rows. I decided to use small screws instead of staples. It helps prevent the twine from pulling out when it has the added weight of the photos on it. Just tie off a loop a bit smaller than the screw head, predrill your holes to prevent splitting the wood and then drill in the screw.

Then I hung the frame onto my {very strange & narrow} fifth wall in my office.

I created my simple fauxlaroids in Photoshop Elements 11. I made them a bit of a cream color and added some texture on top {at an opacity of 88%}. I laid a square image on top and then added the inner shadow to the actual photo.

I added a caption to each photo in a typewriter font. I can recall my parents using an old typewriter to add captions to old  Polaroids back in the day.

I printed them onto plain white card stock.

Then I used mini clothespins to put them up.
{Aren't mini clothespins the cutest?}

I hung a vintage family photo above {the little girl in this photo is my maternal grandmother}.

Stop by my Decorating with Pictures post that I worked on for Kristen Duke's blog. I've showed several fun photo banners and printables to create your own.
