Southern State of Mind's Top Ten of 2013

Hello lovelies and hello 2014!
Heather here from Southern State of Mind! I am so excited to bring you some fun new home decor ideas over here at I Should Be Mopping the Floor this year. But before we get started, let's have some fun looking back at some of our favorite Southern State of Mind moments from 2013.
Enjoy!

Short on space? Who isn't!?!
Here's how we turned our rarely-used-but-really-lovely-formal dining room into functional office space!

Hey, just because we are frugal, doesn't mean we can't be FABULOUS!
Here's how I turned an old boring snoozer pillow into a chic Jonathan Adler knock-off monogram pillow! Because you know down here in the south, if it's not moving- slap a monogram on it!

Well, this bedding ensemble was the result of quite the chain of events:
Came home from vacation.
Ended up with itchy bites.
Completely freaked out.
Convinced myself I had bed bugs.
Turned out it was...poison ivy?!?!?!?!?
(OK, so I may be a little neurotic at times, still love me, k?)
But hey, at least I got to try some funky new bedding combinations pairing linens I had on hand!

Little man went to his grandparents to play for a couple days.
So Mama played at the house by pulling out the accessories, pairing fun patterns and fluffing the pillows.
It was short lived adult space, but aahhhhh... so glorious!

Aaawww, summer.
The days are long and sun is shining.
Here's how we took our deserted winter porch to an awesome summer oasis. On a serious budget!

This little blue porch ceiling detail was like a statement necklace for my front entrance. BAM!

This tiny bath got a much needed makeover with a nod to nautical, nod to adults and a nod to toddlers.

With a little elbow grease and a couple scores from the Goodwill, our guest room went from boring to glam. Here are the details!

When looking for an outdoor rug, I was totally deflated at the costs.
So for less than $20 I made my own!

Nothing like finding driftwood at the beach! Here's how I channeled my lowcountry vacation to my home decor.

Well that was a fun walk down decorating lane! For more decorating inspiration be sure to check out Southern State of Mind! Also, I am SO close to getting to 500 likes on Facebook- won't you come on over and give me a big ol' like please?
