I am always in need of a good chicken slow cooker recipe...this is one I've had for years and still use all the time. It's one of those simple food recipes that brings the utmost comfort. There is absolutely nothing healthy about it {like, really}...but, sometimes you just need a good mama meal.
This particular recipe is thicker than most chicken & dumplings...
I just prefer a less-soupy version.
You'll need:
- 3-4 cups cooked chicken
- 2 cans cream of chicken soup
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2-1 can water {just use the empty soup can}
- 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- salt to taste
- 1 can "oversized" biscuits
The chicken in the photo above this one has the chicken already cooked. I just boil my chicken pieces to cook them. I try to do it in large batches, chop and freeze it so I have it on hand.
Start this recipe by adding soups and water to your stoneware. Mix them completely.
Add spices and incorporate.
Add chicken.
Quarter your biscuits.
Keep the biscuits on top of the other ingredients...they need less heat.
Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours...
watch carefully toward the end so the dumplings don't burn.
{Ugh. I not only added everything in and turned the slow cooker to WARM...I took a photo of it. I realized my mistake an hour later and turned it to low.}

Be comforted! ;)

The biscuits wouldn't cook. I had a crock pot of dough, even after doubling the cooking time. My crock pot works perfect, and I followed the exact recipe. My dough is now in the trash:(
