Christmas countdown bags are such a fun way to count the days until the big guy slides down the chimney. My kids love it when we do this version of an Advent calendar. I fill the bags with inexpensive dollar store goodies, as well as activity ideas. Then I seal them with these cute numbered tags. They make the days leading up to Christmas really fun and memorable. Christmas Countdown Bag Tags
Do you ever not do a tradition and everyone notices? Like, everyone. Last year, I was that mom, y'all. I didn't do our usual paper bag Christmas countdown that I had done in years prior. These were never anything fancy...most of the time they were filled with fun activity ideas like baking cookies or reading a Christmas story. But it was wailing and gnashing of teeth...I had some sad people on my hands. And I really missed the bags, too...all of the little activity ideas and small treats that they brought (in a more organized manner than I usually do). So, this year...the bags are back, baby! I thought it would be fun to dress them up with cute little number tags.
Supplies for Christmas Countdown Bags:
- lunch-style paper bags (grab red or green ones here on Amazon)
- miniature clothespins or festive baker's twine to use with a hole punch on your bags' closure (keeps out peeking eyes a bit better!)
- Christmas countdown numerical printables (download here or below)
- inexpensive filler items for your bags (here's a few ideas below to get you started):
- this large Christmas favor assortment would be an easy way to grab filler items
- reindeer rubber duckies
- Christmas bookmarks
- snowman notepads

Assembling Your Countdown Bags:
- After downloading your tags (above), print them onto white cardstock paper to make sure they're sturdy enough to withstand the season.
- Cut out all of your tags around their outer edges (careful not to cut through the center).
- Fold each tag in half.
- Fill bags with goodies and fold the bag tops over a couple of times.
- Sandwich the bag tag onto the top fold of the bag and secure with a miniature clothespin or baker's twine through a hole punch.
- Set in a spot that is easy to remember every day (although little ones rarely forget these).
